Senior Partner Farai Hove Masaisai and Associate Attorney Chelsea Edwards, of Hove and Associates Attorneys-at-Law, appeared before the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council on 26 March 2026 on behalf of the appellant, Mr. Anthony Hosein, in a Constitutional motion. Submissions were advanced on behalf of the appellant, and the matter is now reserved for judgment.
The appeal concerns Mr. Hosein’s constitutional claim arising from his retrenchment from Caroni Limited, a state-owned enterprise, following its restructuring and the VSEP process. The issues before the Privy Council include whether the Court of Appeal erred in upholding the striking out of his claim on the basis of delay and the availability of a parallel remedy, and whether it erred in finding no apparent bias on the part of the trial judge.
