About Hove and Associates

It would be our pleasure to put our extensive legal experience to work for you.

Hove and Associates was born out of the imagination of Farai Hove Masaisai, whom at a young age decided that he wanted to practice law in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. This ambition was trust upon him Trinidad style by his dear mother Ms. June Thomas, who read law at the University of the West Indies Cave Hill in Barbados in the early 1980’s.

His mother however never practiced law as his father returned to live in Zimbabwe in the late 1980’s leaving his mother to raise her three children born to their father as a single parent.  She always said that her children needed a mother and not an Attorney and she dedicated her life towards her children’s welfare.

Her sacrifice would reap great rewards as now her three children, Tafara, Farai and Thandiwe born to Bekinkosi Hove Masaisai are all practicing attorneys in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.

Hove and Associates began trading in the city of Port of Spain, Trinidad on the 29th day of October 2010. Founded by Farai Hove Masaisai, it started off as a sole practitioner legal practice in very humble beginnings at No. 15 Gordon Street Port of Spain. A building which served the combined purposes of residential, a guest house, and one room which Farai rented as his law office.

At the time of starting up, all functions of the firm were carried out by Farai, he drafted, filed, advocated and served all legal documents connected to the firm’s clients. Most of the Civil High Court matters were done on a pro-bono basis and immigration and divorces matters made up the bulk of the day to day work.

In the year 2012, the law Firm moved to No. 66 Abercromby Street Port of Spain and occupied two office spaces within Abercromby House. Farai then hired two legal secretaries and a law clerk and business began to grow, appearances in the Civil High Court became a very regular occurrence and trial advocacy became our specialty.

In the year 2015, Mrs Trishauna Scarlett-Hove Masaisai joined the law firm on a full-time basis taking charge of the booming Immigration department. In the year 2015 Mr. Issa Jones joined as an Associate Attorney taking charge of personal injury and commercial dispute resolutions. Also in the year 2015 we purchased, renovated and moved into our head office at Hove’s Court No. 15 Gordon Street Port of Spain, a building formally owned by our Senior Partner’s mother Ms. June Thomas. In honour of her sacrifices to all of her children a plaque was unveiled and dedicated to her on the 30th day of June 2017.

Hove & Associates presently has Three Partners, Two Associate Attorneys and Two Legal Consultants together with a robust team of support staff that are qualified and experienced in the practice and administration of law in both contentious and non-contentious matters.

We have developed a reputation as being “The Peoples law firm” as we frequently represent clients on matters that affect their fundamental rights as guaranteed by the Republican Constitution. Decisions such as Trouchen V Trouchen in the Court of Appeal and Ideaho V The Attorney General a Constitutional motion has marked the law firm as a formidable force to be reckoned with in the Jurisdiction.

Our attorneys are gifted and experienced having worked alongside Senior Counsel Elton Prescott in complex civil litigation claims in the High Court, Court of Appeal and The Privy Council. We have over the years represented Departments of State, State Companies and large Multinational Corporations in civil litigation matters.

Hove and Associates continues to grow from strength to strength and credits almighty God for all of the firms successes and experiences to date.
